Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 November 2025

Please read these terms carefully before using our services or booking platform. By creating an account or placing a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. About us

Dry Riser Testing North West is a fire safety testing company based in Bolton, Greater Manchester, providing dry riser inspection, testing, and certification services across the North West of England. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean Dry Riser Testing North West.

2. Services

We provide the following services, subject to availability:

  • Full pressure test: pressurised testing of dry riser systems to BS 9990:2015, with certification on pass.
  • Visual inspection: non-pressurised visual check of all accessible dry riser components, with written report.
  • Remedial works: repair of defective components, quoted separately. Minor repairs may be carried out on the same visit at additional cost.

Services are subject to safe access being available on the agreed date. We reserve the right to reschedule if access cannot be gained or conditions make it unsafe to test.

3. Bookings and payment

Bookings are placed through our online platform. Payment is taken in full at the time of booking via Stripe. All prices are shown exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. VAT at the current rate will be added at checkout.

Once payment is confirmed, you will receive a booking confirmation by email. This constitutes a contract between you and us for the provision of the specified service.

4. Cancellation and rescheduling

Cancellation by you: You may cancel or reschedule a booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled visit date. Cancellations within 48 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the booking value. Cancellations on the day of the visit or where our engineer cannot gain access will be charged in full.

Cancellation by us: We will endeavour to give as much notice as possible if we need to reschedule. In the event of cancellation by us, we will offer an alternative date or a full refund. We are not liable for any losses resulting from a rescheduled or cancelled visit.

5. Access and client responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Our engineer has safe and unobstructed access to all parts of the dry riser system on the agreed date
  • Any access codes, keys, or instructions are provided in your booking notes in advance
  • The building is safe to access on the visit date
  • Appropriate residents or occupiers are notified of the visit where relevant

Where the engineer cannot gain access through no fault of ours, the full booking fee will be charged and a new booking will be required to complete the test.

6. Results and certificates

On a pass, we will issue a digital certificate within 24 hours of the completed test confirming compliance with BS 9990:2015. This certificate relates only to the system as tested on the date of the visit.

Where defects are found, a defect report will be issued in place of a certificate. A re-test will be required after remedial works are completed before a certificate can be issued. Additional charges apply for re-tests.

Our certificates are a record of the condition of the system at the time of testing. We are not liable for defects that develop after the date of the certificate, or that were not accessible for testing during the visit.

7. Liability

We carry professional indemnity and public liability insurance up to £5,000,000. Our liability to you is limited to the value of the specific booking in question, except where liability cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or financial losses arising from our services or any failure of a dry riser system, including where a certificate has previously been issued.

It remains your responsibility as the building owner or responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to ensure that fire-fighting systems are adequately maintained. Our testing service is part of this maintenance but does not replace your broader responsibilities.

8. Out-of-hours bookings

Bookings outside standard hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:00pm) are available at a surcharge of £200 ex VAT. The surcharge will be clearly shown at checkout and included in your invoice.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
